Cugher Glass Solar Panel Line Handling Stations

A set of handling stations built for solar module lines: a centering station, a corner conveyor, linear conveyors and a rotating table.

  • Centering station positions the module along the X and Y axes to a tolerance of +/- 0.1 mm and can be applied to any conveyor in the line according to production requirements
  • Corner conveyor axially deviates the module during the process, using rollers and belts driven in the same direction as glass flow
  • Conveyors are built from steel profiles, powder-coated to prevent oxidation, with an AC motor driven by an inverter and synchronized with the entire line
  • Rotating table turns the module +/- 90 degrees to change conveying direction between long-edge-leading (LEL) and short-edge-leading (SEL), using belts or pulleys
  • Rotating tables can also be used for manual inspection of panel assembly, with a sensor system assisting the operator in finding the correct release position

Cugher Glass S.r.l., founded in 1967 in Novate Milanese, Italy, states it was among the first companies in the world to automate the screen-printing process on flat glass. The company designs and builds silk-screen printing lines together with the handling, drying and inspection equipment built around them, for glass processors in the automotive, home appliance and solar panel sectors. Cugher states its automotive line customers include AGP, Sisecam, Saint Gobain and AGC, and that it built five production lines for Enel Green Power's 3Sun Gigafactory in Catania, Italy, working with partner Bottero S.p.A.
